WINTER SCENTS: - THE TOP WINTER FRAGRANCES

Seasons are our way of making sense of the constantly shifting weather. Nature doesn’t neatly divide itself up into four distinct segments, that’s something we dreamed up. So that begs the question: what separates winter from fall? If the autumnal season is about holidays, togetherness, cinnamon spice, and warmth, what extends beyond in the slow march to spring?

For me, winter conjures up images of the last of the fallen orange leaves turning frail and skeletal on the soil, bare trees casting spindly shadows on icy ground. Evergreens feel more vibrant, with their sharp, fresh scents carried on cold winds. Even warmth feels less soothing in contrast— the burn of whisky, the sting of hot water on frigid hands. There’s the wonder that accompanies the first snow, the majestic power of a winter storm. Winter is harsh, mysterious, and beautiful.

Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian

In the Fall of 2014, Baccarat, the most prestigious and opulent crystalworks in the world, celebrated the 250th anniversary of their founding by releasing an extraordinary crystal decanter containing a luminous, exclusive fragrance created by Francis Kurkdjian. Only 250 of these bottles were produced, for a price of $4000 apiece. Now, for the first time ever, this spectacular fragrance is available to the world as Baccarat Rouge 540, a gorgeously woody floral-amber equal parts transparent, dense, and intense.

MFK describes Rouge 540 not in terms of top, heart and base notes, but rather as the interplay between three unique accords, each lending a distinct and visceral characteristic. The breeze accord, jasmine and saffron, sits sheer and delicately spiced on the skin, leading way for the cedar-driven blend of woods that make up the robust and crackling heat accord. Finally, a mineral accord of ambergris seems simultaneously warm and cool, delivering deceptively straightforward depth to mimic the sophistication of Baccarat Crystal itself. A fragrance that was only meant to belong to 250 of the world's wealthiest collectors is now available, and we could not be more thrilled to offer it.

Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent

In September of 2014 Yves Saint Laurent launched Black Opium, the new fragrance announced as a rock n roll interpretation of the classic that should highlight the dark, mysterious side of the YSL brand. Master perfumers Nathalie Lorson and Marie Salamagne, in collaboration with Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc, developed the composition. Notes of coffee, present in large quantities, dominate the scent. Additional accords are pink pepper, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli and cedar

Lost Cherry by Tom Ford

Lost Cherry's candy-like gleam of exotic black cherry and liqueur, touched with teasing almond, gives way to a Turkish rose and jasmine sambac blend that penetrate the senses. The full-bodied perfume attains fantasy-like levels of insatiability.

A warm and spicy eau de parfum contained in a luscious, deep cherry-red bottle that captures the scent's dichotomy of sweet and dark.

Like the plump fruit waiting to be eaten, Lost Cherry is powerful and insatiable. Notes of cherry liqueur and a touch of bitter almond drip into its heart, glossing it with candy-like gleam.
--Tom Ford

Lost Cherry is contained in a luscious, deep cherry-red bottle. Capturing the scent's dichotomy of sweet and dark, the flacon is adorned with a pale pink label, the color of cherry blossoms.
